PAINTINGS

'The Commitment to Blood'

Mixed media on photograph mounted on board.

Multi-layered and 7 years in the making.  The painting/collage piece, with oils, acrylic, schlagg gold leaf, gunpowder, billboard poster and photograph eventually made this interpretation of the woman.

I wanted to make a painting, that's it. Just a beautiful painting with history! I wanted to spend time just looking and adding, and scraping away. I eventually came to this conclusion, and I couldn't go on any further.

AFTER FRAGONADE SWING I & II & OTHER PAINTINGS.

I started to make paintings using basic mark making. Using materials like lime plaster, gunpowder, oils, acrylic and ink. I wanted to create objects of art that have some connections to the history of art in some way. Taking elements from Fragonade's The Swing, I made this diptych to be as 'abstract' as I could make it. Just simply concentrating on using simple forms.

Making simple gestures and marks according to the environment I am in at the time, allows me to really open up and express my surroundings without the restrictions of trying to 'paint'. I am really just allowing myself to make these marks without much artistic input.  Just relying on process and application to organically create objects of art.

THE UNSETTLED MOMENTS OF FREEDOM

Using lime plaster, ink, oil, acrylic and flour, this image that required some thought on balance and composition, became a somewhat experimental challenge of simplicity for me. A balancing act of emotional physicality's.
